G\u00fcnther ROEDER<\/strong> was born in 1946 in Oppdal, Norway, in a prisoner-of-war camp where his German parents had married in English internment.
\nHe grew up in Bremen and studied from 1964 to 1966 at the College of Arts in Bremen (today Hochschule f\u00fcr K\u00fcnste Bremen) and from 1966 to 1970
\nfree painting at the High School of Fine Arts in Hamburg (Hochschule f\u00fcr Bildende K\u00fcnste Hamburg), amongst others at Paul Wunderlich. During his studies he already started working as a draftsman and caricaturist for various newspapers and magazines and founded the gallery “Blind Cow” in Abendrothsweg in Hamburg.
\nIn 1974 G\u00fcnther Roeder returned to Bremen, completed his art studies and took on teaching positions\/lectureships at the College of Arts (Hochschule f\u00fcr K\u00fcnste Bremen) and the University of Bremen (Universit\u00e4t Bremen) from 1976 to 1982.<\/p>\n

In addition to free painting Roeder worked as a graphic artist for various agencies, as a draftsman and caricaturist (including the satirical magazine pardon pardon and the magazine Konkret konkret), as a book illustrator and as a court artist for numerous newspapers and television stations. In 1985, he moved to Berlin with his partner, the Bremen painter Margret Storck (Margret Storck \u2013 Wikipedia). Four years later, the two artists moved to Provence, in the south of France. Since 1993 Roeder lived again in Germany (D\u00fcsseldorf). On 6 May 2015 he succumbed to the consequences of a stroke in Marseille while preparing his exhibition in the series \u201eSIXTRACE\u201c in Sablet\/Provence.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
